movembHER

For those of you who haven’t been paying attention since the beginning of the new millennium, the calendar has changed. What was once November… has become Movember. Run by the Movember Foundation, this annual event – which began in Australia but has since expanded to cover the entire planet like an unstoppable, unruly hipster beard – involves the cultivation of below-nose facial topiary during the month of November in order to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate or ball cancer, and their associated charities. Since its inception, the Movember Foundation has raised USD 174m globally. That kind of money buys a lot – A LOT – of luxury moustache oils.

Having sported various styles of hair – from imperials to handlebars – on my face for the last 20 years, Movember is something I can really get into. Put simply, farming facial fluff is makeup for men.

Which brings me to the point of this little article…

Last year, a good lady friend of mine, let’s call her LB, showed me something pretty amazing. Namely, there are a lot of women out there who can seriously rock a tachioed look! What LB did was to cut off some of her long red hair and fashion herself a good old cowboy sheriff-style moustache, like Yosemite Sam, only neater. Seriously, she looked awesome!

So, just like a bunch of guys joined in with National No Makeup Day, we here at BaDoink think women should get in on Movember too. We’re not going to make it a hard and fast rule, but we think your taches will mean more if you use your own hair to make them, just like LB!

So get snipping ladies! And once you’ve got your Lady Hulk Hogan Handlebar or Mariagnum PI Lip Caterpillar, take a snap of that snip and tweet it to us @BaDoinkOfficial with the hashtag #MovembHER and over the month we’ll showcase the very best in our MovembHER gallery! At the end of the month, the top 3 very best #MovembHER girl-taches will each win a BaDoink t-shirt, the most sough-after t-shirts in the world!

Time to get your clippers out!
