From June 5^th to June 8^th, 2014, the Baja 500 enters its 47^th year with yet another thrilling, insane, no-holds-barred free-for-all across the heat-baked desert of Ensenada, Mexico.

For all of us here at BaDoink, the 2014 Baja 500 is going to be even more nerve-wracking because two of our very own people, Mark Hoashi and Tim Whale, will also be racing.

Because this is such a special event for us all here, we obviously want to cover as much of the event as possible… and that’s why we’re launching this competition to find our very own gonzo on-the-scene reporter to let us know everything that’s going down at the Baja 500 2014.

We want someone to cover the event from start to finish, providing BaDoink with a constant stream of articles and videos, featuring interviews with drivers, girls, engineers, fans and absolutely anyone and everyone sweating it out under the sizzling Mexican sun at the Baja 500.

So, do you think you have what it takes to be our man on the ground? If you’re over 21, think you’re up for the challenge and you’re available between June 1 and June 10, 2014, this is what you need to do to be in with a chance:

Submit a 5/10-minute video recording of yourself going out and about in your city and asking random people questions like: what do you love about your city, what are your favorite nightclubs and where do you enjoy watching sports. We want to see how well you cope with approaching people you don’t know and getting them to talk to you.

Submit a 5/10-minute video of yourself commentating on any live sporting event. We want to see and hear how well you express the excitement and tension of a major competition.

Write one 500-word article about the final of any major sporting event

Both of those videos will allow our panel of judges to evaluate your reporting style. We want to see people who are pumped up and enthusiastic. And the written submission will give us a chance to see how handy you are with the might pen!

The lucky winner will be provided with a press pass, hotel, flights and expenses, as well as a journalistic springboard into who knows what sort of awesome gonzo future.
