Discount voucher company Groupon is recalling Durex condoms sold through their platform in Australia after it was found that they are counterfeit and may not be effective in use.
In a statement released today, Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) warned consumers over the dangers that may result if the defective items are used.
“It has been identified that the condoms sold are counterfeit goods and may have defects such as holes in the latex. Defects may result in the condoms failing to prevent pregnancy and protect users against sexually transmitted infections.”
The statement lays the blame at the door of Edgelounge Enterprises who were responsible for the shipping of the products. Groupon are currently identifying purchasers to inform them of the recall. They advise to either dispose of the faulty condoms or return them to Groupon for a full refund.
