There’s been quite a buzz surrounding one of the latest innovations, the Google Glass, a piece of wearable-tech that enables its user to enjoy an augmented view of the world. This also incorporates linking with another user to see the world through their eyes, including what they see during sex.

The app is called Sex with Glass and has been under development for some time already. Sherif Maktabi, the founder of the project said it started off with the question: “How can we make sex more awesome with Google Glass?”

Apparently, shared live streaming with the possibility to record via voice command was the answer the developer came up with. Just say “ok glass, it’s time” and the tech will stream what you see to each other. To stop the feed, just say “ok glass, pull out” (or is that what she said?).

Maktabi, a Lebanese product design student at London’s Central Saint Martins art college, had less than 24 hours with the smart-glasses at a hackathon event held in November 2013, but his idea continued to develop over the months since then.

“Some people find what we do repulsive,” Maktabi said. “But a lot of other people – and I’m basing this from the e-mails we are getting online – really desire to try this. People have fantasises, desires and needs. It’s personal.”

The app will also offer video to those kinky enough to want to replay their escapades. Although, the videos are automatically deleted five hours after they are created. It will also be possible to set the atmosphere if the gadget is properly set up. Dim the lights and turn up the music and watch a few pages from the Kama Sutra for inspiration.

So far the app has received mixed reviews. Maktabi shared a few responses sent to the development team, ranging from “I want to have this now because I want to try it with my boyfriend” to “I want to write about the anthropological impact of this app” but added that his favorites are the anonymous ones that simply says “awesome”.

“What they will do with that (the app) is up to them. Guilt, dogma and shame is something we still widely experience when it comes to sex and how we talk about it,” Maktabi said.

There is a chance that Google won’t accept the app to gel with their product. The company has already banned at least one app it deemed pornographic. Google updated its content policy for Glass since then to include the provision: “We don’t allow Glassware content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material.”

  1. I wonder how long it takes for criminal minds or SVU to do a super creepy episode with some creepo using glass to record his activities…

  2. This is some hot stuff! Definitely check this out if you’re feeling horny.

  3. This is definitely interesting. I wonder though… Doesn’t the glass get in the way of all the heated action?

  4. I really don’t want to see what a woman has to look at while having sex with me. Poor girl =(
