As much as you’d like a lush head of hair ala Don Draper from Mad Men to run your fingers through as you sip on a single malt whiskey in your office overlooking the city, not every man can be as lucky. Or on TV. Some men bald. True it can be a huge psychological blow to some men and it might seem like the end of the world seeing your hairline slowly recede and your hair falling out, but trust us, it doesn’t have to be. There are many a hot, bald men out there, with successful careers and who can still attract women (many women prefer a bald man). The trick is to do it with style and grace. And we’re here to show you how!
Determine the cause
Not all hair loss is hereditary. Some can come from stress, medication or skin disorders. Get a checkup to make sure the cause of your hair loss – if it’s inherited balding or a side effect of some other symptom. If it’s a side effect, it’s easier to treat by reducing stress, changing medication, etc.
Treating Baldness
So it is hereditary, don’t worry it isn’t the end of the world. If you’re determined to fight the course of nature, there are some ways that you might be able to use.
Toupee: The trick about toupees is getting one that fits you well and is as natural looking as possible (made with real hair). Please don’t pick one in the haircut you wish you could pull off, but pick one closest to your current haircut. This is your hair we’re talking about, splurge a little!
Hair Transplant: This treatment has come a long way since it’s conception and can look pretty natural if done right. Again, we’d advise you to go with the best. And since this treatment is already very expensive (it can set you back around $7,000 or more) you might as well make sure you’re getting the best out there.
Rogaine: What originally started off as a treatment for high blood pressure, Rogaine was found to actually slow hair loss and in some cases reverse it. Rogaine can be found over the counter, but once again, it isn’t exactly the cheapest drug out there and hair loss will continue once you stop using it!
The Future: There’s been lots of news out there regarding a possible breakthrough in a cure for baldness so perhaps in the near future this article will be obsolete!
We’ll be back again to take things to the next level with how to handle hair loss with acceptance and confidence.
