Erika Lust and XConfessions at The Feminist Porn Awards

This evening, the lovely and innovative Erika Lust will be giving an address at the Feminist Porn Awards in Toronto about her groundbreaking adult media project, XConfessions. The event will include a talk about XConfessions and other examples of Lust’s work, exclusive screenings, and a Q&A session. If you’re en route to the Feminist Porn Awards, this is a not to be missed event.

If you’re not currently on the way to Canada, however, there are still many opportunities to enjoy Lust’s growing body of creatively alluring work. XConfessions is available via online subscription to the site, and is unlike any adult media roaming the broad expanse of the Internet. Each video featured on the site derives from a fantasy or confession submitted by users wishing to see their sensual ideas come to cinematic life. The project started in 2013 and since then has garnered many followers in its goal of creating a like-minded community.

XConfessions publishes two original films each month, each of them unique and shot stylistically to bolster the narrative and realistic experience. According to Lust, “it’s important to work out my ‘filmmaking muscle’ as often as I can, and directing two shorts a month is the best way to try out new things, work a wide variety of actors, and not fall into routine and predictability.” It’s adult entertainment that’s constantly inventive and effectively closer to the real experience of having sex.

The event at the Feminist Porn Awards, entitled A Night of Indie Erotica, is a celebration of both ten years of the Feminist Porn Awards and Lust’s company, Lust Films. Beyond this, it’s honoring the mind behind such a powerful output of artistic content.

Lust, now a prominent Barcelona-based director and writer, has a scholarly background in feminism, sexuality, and political sciences, and is an inspiring force in feminist and sex positive filmmaking. Her erotic content is female led, on screen and off. Winner of several Feminist Porn Awards, Lust broke into the industry with The Good Girl, and followed up her success with Five Hot Stories for Her, Life Love Lust, Barcelona Sex Project, and Cabaret Desire. Lust is also the author of five books, including such titles as Let’s Make a Porno and The Erotic Bible to Europe.

XConfessions, a crowdsourced project–the first of its kind–is a continuation of an ongoing mission to explore the realm of sex media outside what’s stereotypical and unrealistic. The result, from what we’ve seen, is challenging, enjoyable, and ultimately demonstrates the cinematic, narrative, and thematic levels adult entertainment can achieve.

A Night of Indie Erotica will take place tonight (April 15) at 7pm at The Royal Cinema, located at 608 College Street in Toronto. Any individual who writes an anonymous confession and submits it in a sealed envelope will receive a free month pass for XConfessions.com and possibly see their fantasy or admission on the site.

Anyone with an internet connection can find the prolific Erika Lust on her website erikalust.com, purchase classy, sensual products at store.erikalust.com, and get a glimpse of what kind of films Lust finds to her liking at lustcinema.com, a quality online home for erotic films.
